All
God's Creatures
Dear Reader,
My mother used to say that the only problem with funerals was that
someone had to die before you had one, because you saw all the relatives and
friends there you never saw anywhere else.
Booksignings are better--they don't require a death in the family.
My first booksigning for All God's Creatures at Davis-Kidd Booksellers
here in Memphis last Saturday was a great success. Not only did we sell a
lot of books, but it was definitely old home week.
My second booksigning at the Memphis Women's Exchange was just as
successful. The Women's Exchange sells the exquisite hand work of
women throughout the
mid-south. They showed me a French batiste christening dress covered with
tiny hand-sewn pin tucks, that was completed by one of their ladies on her
100th birthday! She is almost completely blind and did the pin tucks purely
by feel. Now, that's my kind of woman. They have no intention of
selling it, but are framing it instead. I ran into people I went to college
with, and even old
friends of my mother's.
So far reviews have been excellent. I go around with my fingers crossed
all the time (except when I'm riding), that you'll all buy them for
Christmas presents, because I'm dying to write a sequel.
Merry Christmas to you and all your animals.
